Top 10 Shows

I just got back from my weekly grocery trip.  This week I went to Target- partly for potty training essentials (yippee) and partly because I just love it there.  I always find something I like, it never fails.  I have not been to sleep yet- I stayed up all night and am still going. Barely.

While at Target I stopped at the Starbucks inside of there and tried a gingerbread latte.  For the record the pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha are better.  It is kind of strange to me that I like any of them because I am really not a coffee person…maybe I am acquiring a taste for it.  I will say it hasn’t really done anything for me energy wise so I’m not sure why people drink it for that.

I figured since yesterday I posted about my Top 10 favorite movies that today I would let everyone in on my Top 10 favorite TV show series.  I love television.  I have a lot of shows I keep up with.  This list is my favorite of all time in no particular order.

1. Lost

This show keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat…

2. True Blood

What’s better than vampires? Hillbilly vampires. Enough said.

3. Veronica Mars

Every time I watched this I wanted to be Veronica Mars.

4. Dawson’s Creek

Pacey and Joey will forever have my heart 🙂

5. One Tree Hill

There are not enough great things to say about this show.

6. The Vampire Diaries

Damon Salvatore is a hunk. Period, point blank. Plus the show blows the books out of the water. It keeps getting better and better.

7. Supernatural

Dean Winchester how I love thee…

8. Heroes

Makes me wish I had a super power!

9. Survivor

This show is always great- love the strategy of it.

10. Oz

A great prison series- watch it if you haven’t.

Honorable mentions go to Terra Nova, Hart of Dixie, and The Secret Circle.  All of which are new this year and wonderful!

What are the shows you can’t go without seeing?

Breaking Dawn

Hi everyone 🙂

I finally crawled out from under my rock and went to see Breaking Dawn!  Yesterday we got up and went to church at Aaron’s parent’s church.  It was okay- for some reason that particular church just does not move me in any way, shape, or form.  The built in benefit to going to their church? None other than them babysitting.  I had been wanting to go see Breaking Dawn since before it came out and yesterday I finally got around to it!

Verdict? It was insanely awesome.  In my opinion, and mine is the only one that matters obviously, it was the best Twilight film made yet.  There were so many things about it that made it great.  I am not into spoiling things for people so I won’t go into any details about it- just know you need to see it.  We went on a Sunday at 1:35 and the theater was packed.  I very rarely go to see a movie that far past opening day and see that many people in a theater.  Oh, and one tidbit of advice for those who haven’t seen it- stay until the credits stop rolling.  There is one more scene and yesterday about half of the people in the theater missed it because they left.

Since I can’t gab about the movie without ruining it for everyone I thought I would share with you my Top 10 favorite movies of all time.  These are in no particular order- they really are impossible to rank.

1. The Notebook

Do I really even need to explain why?

2. A Walk To Remember

I love how he helps her mark things off of her bucket list…

3. Remember The Titans

Once again, do I even need to explain myself?

4. Their Eyes Were Watching God

This romance will break your heart…

5. Save The Last Dance

This movie is great because of the dancing and the fact that they pushed boundaries.

6. Madea’s Family Reunion

I do love a movie with a good message and this one is hilarious.

7. Soul Food

Yet another wonderful movie full of the message of family.

8. The Exorcist

This movie remains the best of its kind.  Honestly I can’t even look at this picture- when I googled for a pic I picked the first one because I almost had a heart attack when I saw the images.  The face of that demon provokes fear in the pit of my stomach every time without fail.

9. Identity

I love a good psychological thriller and this one had me tricked all the way to the end.

10. The Secret Life of Bees

The only thing I can tell you about this movie is to watch it.  It is amazing.

I also have an honorable mention- Joy Ride.  Because in our house we always find a way to say “Candy Cane”! in our convos.  It makes life fun- you should try it sometime.

In looking at that list I have realized that I am probably a hopeless romantic and I love movies based in the south.  I also really love movies about family.  I am a total girl.

What are your favorite movies of all time?  Is there a movie in theaters right now I should know about or one coming soon?

25 Days of Christmas

This year I decided to start a tradition in our home.  Every day starting December 1st running through Christmas Day there will be a card to open.  This year I did it revolving around Aaron but in the years to come I will likely do one for him and one for the whole family.  For each day I chose either a compliment/memory/reason I love him, an event, or an activity.

For Day 1 it was game night.  Today’s was a compliment to him.  I can’t post all of my ideas right now just in case he reads my blog between now and January though!  I have found two great posts on other websites with this same theme so here are the links to those- they have a ton of great ideas! The images are linked!

I think this is fun for everyone and a nice change up.  There are endless ideas for it too.  This is something that I plan to do every year from now on…I love traditions!  I think pizza is in my near future so I will leave you to your reading on the above listed sites and I will be back Monday! Toodles.

I Love You God!

Holy Mother of Pearl! I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off of my shoulders.  I have been so stressed out for the past month but now I am officially mellow.

Aaron switched jobs a few months ago and was going into what we thought at the time was a better situation.  Well turns out that he is only able to make half of what he did before which put a huge strain on our finances.  We knew that if something didn’t change we wouldn’t be able to pay our bills.  To make a long story short Aaron worked out a deal with his boss and he needed to sell 3 more cars going into today to get the money we needed and he did it!!  He ended the month with 22 cars and I am so ecstatic right now.  The best part is that the deal he worked out is in effect until a promotion happens.  I don’t want to go too in depth with it all because I am sure the ins and outs of it would bore you all to tears.

Right now I just need to thank God.

My heart is full right now.  I am trying to find the words to type but I just want to cry to be honest.  You see, for as long as I can remember God has been in my life, something I was raised with.  Throughout my life there have been times I have strayed from Him and times I have been super close to Him… for whatever reason I have always failed to remain consistent.  I never stopped loving Him or anything like that, just felt like I failed to spend the necessary time I should with Him and getting to know Him on the deepest of levels.

Whenever I have needed God, He has always come through for me, no matter what.  I have not been the best to Him though.  I haven’t been in church for quite a while (I know this isn’t necessary but for me when I go to church it really helps me center my life around God and keep Him close in mind), I don’t pray nearly as much as I should, and I am sure there are many things I could work on to be better.

We got those three deals we needed because of God.  Three car deals on a Wednesday night in December is unheard of.  God had our backs.  I feel so undeserving and so grateful all at the same time.

We are starting back to church Sunday.  Personally, I can’t wait.  Church is something I love deep in my soul if it is the right church.  I yearn to be involved in whatever way I can.  God has been so good to us, the least we can do is dedicate our time to Him.

One day when I die if God asks me why He should let me into Heaven I want to be able to say “Because, I love you. I truly love you”.  I don’t want Him to look at me and say, “What did you do to show me you loved me”? and me not have an answer.  It is easy to say you love someone…harder to show it.  I want to be able to back my words up.  I feel exactly the way Tim Tebow described it here: (click to enlarge)

From this day on, I intend to give God exactly what He deserves.  My all.

No Christmas Tree, No Christmas Tree

So I go to put my tree up tonight and discover that somewhere in the middle of all of our moves I misplaced the stand for it.  It is not in my house so I assume it is gone forever.  So now I get to go buy another one.  Yippee.  I might get it up before Christmas.

I revamped my site as I am sure you can tell.  I wanted to be able to have categories on the top bar that you could click on to find posts pertaining to certain things.  This was the best I could find without having to pay for it.

Carly says hi 🙂

Back to Christmas trees.  I have always wanted to do a different theme every year.  Maybe one day I will have the money and storage to do so but for now we just have a normal one covered with bright ornaments.  Here are some I found online that I just love…

And here are some other Christmas trees for decoration…

Which one is your favorite? How do you decorate you tree? Any neat themes?

So fresh and so clean, clean

I got most of my house cleaning done. I still have about 2-3 loads of laundry left plus the kids’ room and bathroom to do.  I really deep cleaned the bathroom which got me to thinking about cleaning supplies and cleaning schedules.

In my house things are pretty laid back right now with no real schedule for getting anything done.  This leads to mass cleanups instead of tiny ones everyday.  I realized it was a problem so I set out to make a cleaning schedule to follow.  I wanted it to be simple yet effective.  I figure it should take me no more than 20 minutes of flash cleaning per day to maintain my house.  Then, once a month I can go through and do things like baseboards/windowsills.  I have found if things get cleaned everyday the cleaning goes way faster.  Here is what I came up with:

  • Clean Kitchen (dishes, counters, trash, sweep floors)
  • Dust (dressers/night stands, TV stands)
  • Pick up clutter/trash
  • Clean Bathroom (counters/sinks/mirrors, floors, empty trash, toilet, tub)

1-2 times/week:

  • Laundry
  • Clean out fridge (throw out expired items/ wipe down shelves)

  • Baseboards
  • Windowsills
  • Dust top of ceiling fans
  • Check for cobwebs
  • Vacuum under/behind furniture and in between couch cushions
  • Clean stove inside and out

I will try this plan out and hopefully it will work for me.  If not it will be back to the drawing board.

The other thing I was thinking about today while cleaning was all the cleaners that are out there.  When you go to the store there are so many options and choices to pick from it is ridiculous.  I currently use these products:

Dusting: Swiffer (Aerosol with febreze scent)

Counters/Glass/All-purpose: Mr. Clean (pink color, unsure of scent)

Tub/Toilet: Scrubbing Bubbles Foam Spray/ Lysol Toilet Bowl cleaner

Dusting for non wood surfaces: Swiffer Duster

Dishes: Cascade Action Packs

Laundry: Cheer detergent/ Downy fabric softener/ Tide stain release packs

What products do you use?  Any great ones I should know about?  This is probably kind of nerdy of me but I love buying cleaning supplies.  Almost as much as I loved buying school supplies when I was in school.  I have no idea why, but there you have it.

At any rate I am super happy to have all of the major cleaning out of my way.  It is a job when you are trying to keep an eye on two toddlers at the same time.  It makes everything take twice as long because you have to stop and poke your head around the corner to be sure they aren’t into anything.  Gotta love em! I will be back here tomorrow so don’t miss me 🙂

Cleaning and Dreaming

Hi everyone!  I was supposed to have my Christmas Tree post going up today but we never got around to putting the tree up this weekend.  Instead we had a very relaxed weekend at home spending lots of time together and watching a ton of television.  We finished another season of The Wire (Stringer Bell died and I am sad because he was my favorite character).

Today I have a full day- cleaning my house top to bottom.  I am stoked.  Can you tell?   I am especially stoked about the bathrooms, woohoo.  But, it has to be done so I will do it.  I just hope the kids cooperate and let me get it done.

As a side note, I have been having the strangest dreams lately.  Most all of them have people in them from high school that I was friends with, some that I haven’t seen in at least 8 years.  I like to try to make sense out of my dreams but these are bizarre enough that I don’t think that will be happening.

I know this post is super short and I may be back later today with another one, not sure yet.  I just have so much cleaning to do and then I’ll be making dinner.  Also, the Giants play tonight so I will definitely be watching that.

In the mean time I want to know if any of you went Black Friday shopping? Are any of you taking advantage of Cyber Monday today? I want to know the kind of deals you guys are getting and also any crazy stories- things you may have seen or that happened to you.  I know you guys saw the people going after the $2 waffle makers, right?  If not, YouTube it now.  I will be back later 🙂
